Work starts today on the redevelopment of the former market site in Scunthorpe town centre.

It follows the recent announcement of a multi-million pound Government investment programme, supported via the £3.6bn Towns Fund.

Work on the first phase will see the existing structures demolished and the 2.5 acre site made ready for a new development. It is part of a raft of proposals to change the face of the town and wider area.

Scunthorpe town centre has a huge amount of potential for investment and this site will open up prime business opportunities.

Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council

Footpaths on Home Street and in front of the High Street will be closed while work is carried out. Diversions will be in place.
