Fresh warnings are being made over the dangers of swimming in open water after a young girl ended up in hospital.
Emergency services were called out to Tingley reservoir on Friday teatime after reports that the girl had got into difficulty while swimming. She had to be helped out of the water and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
Police stayed at the scene and dispersed a group of young people who were also there.
This incident in Tingley serves as a stark reminder of the very real dangers of swimming or playing in open water, no matter how tempting it may appear in warm weather.
