Residents have returned home following an evacuation in Boston on Tuesday 7 July.

Officers from Lincolnshire Police arrested a man under the explosive substance act after discovering a device while carrying out a search warrant at a property on Margaret Drive.

Bomb disposal teams removed the device from the property on Tuesday night and carried out a controlled explosion at a safe location.

A total of 14 homes were evacuated as a precaution, but residents were able to return to their homes at 9.30pm on Tuesday night.

In statement, Lincolnshire Police thanked the local community:

Our sincere thanks go out to those affected, Boston Borough Council for their efforts to find alternative accommodation should it have been needed and the Tollfield Road campus of the Haven High School who provided our officers with refreshments throughout the day. A real team effort - thank you Boston!
