A man and a woman have been arrested by police after a 12-day-old baby was tragically mauled to death by a dog.
South Yorkshire Police were called to a property in Welfare Road in the Woodlands area of Doncaster on Sunday afternoon (13 September) amid reports that a dog had attacked a young child.
Paramedics were also called and when they arrived they discovered a young baby boy had been bitten by a dog.
He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital but sadly died a short time later.
Police have now confirmed that a 35-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
They have since been bailed while enquiries continue. South Yorkshire Police also confirmed that the dog who attacked the child has been removed from the address in Doncaster.
