Barnsley coach sacked after seventh straight loss

Barnsley FC have confirmed the departure of manager, Markus Schopp, with immediate effect, after their seventh straight loss.Schopp had only been in the job since June 2021 and leaves the team second-bottom of the Championship.

Joseph Laumann will take charge of first team affairs on a temporary basis and the club has said the recruitment process for Markus’ replacement has already begun.

Markus Schopp said:

It is a pity that our hard work was not reflected in theresults. I wish the club all the best for the future and that they will achieve all their goals."
