The Sheffield Heeley MP Louise Haigh has called for a price cap on covid PCR tests for travellers, saying they are landing families hoping to travel home for Christmas with an 'extortionate cost'.

From 4am on 7 December, all passengers arriving in the UK will have to take a pre-departure covid test - as well as a test once they land.

The Government says it's intended as a temporary measure following an increase in the number of cases of the new omicron strain linked to foreign travel.

But Ms Haigh says its 'scandalous' that dozens of firms are charging hundreds of pounds, saying £50 or £60 is nearer the mark.
