Residents have today been counting the cost in the aftermath of the torrential rains and fierce gales which ripped through parts of Hull yesterday leaving a trail of destruction.
The dramatic and unseasonal weather, described by some residents as a "mini-tornado" caused havoc in the Hopewell Road area and surrounding streets in a suburb of the city.
Trees were uprooted, tiles were pulled from roofs and cars were crushed. Today the clear-up began, but the council says it will take until the end of the week to clear all the debris. Adam Fowler reports.
Victoria Whittam reports on the mini tornado which passed through parts of Hull this afternoon. Up to 30 trees were uprooted along Holderness Road toward Bilton in a matter of minutes.
A murder investigation is underway in Sheffield this evening following the death of a 39-year-old woman.
Her body was found at a property in Vickers Road. Three men, aged 83, 42 and 20-years-old, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody. Officers remain at the scene conducting enquiries.
