The family of Ryan Smith, the teenager from Lincolnshire who was left in coma in 2013 after being knocked off his bike, have ordered a specialist bicycle so that he can fulfil his dream of riding again.

Ryan and dad Mark say it's been an emotional decision for the family but that the time is now right as Ryan continues to develop strength in his legs.

The bike which costs around £7,000 will enable them to ride together.

Ryan has also started doing strength exercises in a neighbour's gym inthe hope of eventually being able to walk without help.

Dad Mark has now done more than 100 school safety talks as part of the Ryan Smith Foundation encouraging youngsters to wear bike helmets.
