Humberside police were today granted more time to talk to the 21-year-old man, arrested following the death of Fiona Southwell in Seaton near Hornsea on Friday.

Detectives have appealed for potential witnesses who were using the old railway tracks on Friday to contact them.

The body of Fiona Southwell, who was 59, was found at a farm in Seaton near Hornsea on Friday evening.

Police are carrying out forensic work at two properties in the area and are asking for the public's help to "piece together the circumstances of her death.

“Fiona Southwell’s death is being treated as suspicious and a team of detectives from the Major Incident Team and other departments are carrying out a large number of enquiries to establish how she died and identify the those responsible.

“We are supporting the victims’ family and keeping them informed about developments in the case.

“There has been an arrest in connection with the murder, however we still need the public’s help in piecing together the circumstance of Fiona’s death.

“I would specifically like to speak to anyone using the old railway track between Hull and Hornsea between 7am and 7pm on Friday 15 July who may have seen something suspicious or untoward.

“The track passes the farm and is well used by cyclists and walkers and would urge people using the track to call us think if they can help. Your information no matter how small could hold the key to establishing the circumstances of Fiona Southwell’s death.

A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a 59-year-old woman in Seaton.

The victim, Fiona Southwell, was found at a farm on Friday 15th July.

Police say a 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody being questioned by detectives.

There are cordons at the farm on Goxhill Lane, Seaton, and a further address in Hornsea as part of the investigation.
