Hundreds of demonstrators marched through York this afternoon in protest at plans to allow companies to frack for shale gas.
Community groups from across Yorkshire joined the rally. It follows North Yorkshire County Council's controversial decision to approve fracking at Kirby Misperton . Sally Simpson reports.
Around 2000 people are expected to gather in York for what organisers hope will be the 'biggest ever' anti-fracking rally to be held in Yorkshire.
Protestors from community groups across the county will march from Clifford's Tower to York Minster. There will be speeches from politicians, community leaders and anti-fracking campaigners.
It comes in the wake of the decision by North Yorkshire County Council to approve fracking at Kirby Misperton despite receiving more than 4000 letter opposing the application.
