Appeal after woman seriously injured in A65 crash

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information about a collision near Gargrave in which a woman was seriously injured.

The crash happened on Saturday 12 October at around 5.10pm on the A65 between Gargrave and Skipton near the junction of Sour Lane.

A Hyundai Coupe travelling towards Gargrave was in collision with a Volkswagen Polo travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 34-year-old local woman, was taken to Airedale hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary where she remains.

The passenger in the Volkswagen, a local woman in her forties, was taken to Airedale hospital with rib injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 78-year-old man from the Lincolnshire area, was taken to Airedale Hospital with minor injuries.

Homes evacuated after crash ruptures gas main

Residents in a street in York have been evacuated after a car crashed into a house, rupturing the gas main.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to Fifth Avenue around 10am this morning after reports of a vehicle crashing into a parked car and then into the house.

It’s believed the driver of the car suffered minor injuries but was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The gas board were called to fix the problem and police are now investigating.
