Ahead of their homecoming gig in Leeds tonight, the Kaiser Chiefs have announced they are donating some of the ticket sales to charity.
CLIC Sargent, a children's cancer charity, and the Leeds Children's Charity - who provide fun experience for sick and abused children - will be the benefactors of the rocker's show at the O2 Academy.
Leeds Children's Charity is both excited and humbled by the offer made to them by the Keiser Chiefs. As one of the oldest charities in Leeds it is fantastic that our work is being supported by such a brilliant local band. We are also honoured to 'share the billing', so to speak, with Clicsargent, as both our organisations work with young people who are in need of support.
The Kaiser Chiefs are doing something very special for the young people of Leeds in December and on behalf of Leeds Children's Charity I would like to say thank you.
Music and TV star, Ricky Wilson, has agreed to become an official Ambassador of the Leeds United Foundation, the official charity of the famous Elland Road club. The frontman of Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs and coach on ‘The Voice UK’ joins the Foundation which helps over 50,000 people a year, including children, young people, adults, disabled, at-risk, the unemployed and elderly across Yorkshire.
I'm absolutely thrilled to become an Ambassador for the Leeds United Foundation, a charity that does so much for the Leeds and Yorkshire community.
I may not be able to name the 1968 winning squad like some of the Kaisers, but that doesn't stop me from being genuinely proud of my Yorkshire roots. Supporting the Foundation's work with the disabled, those with dementia, the unemployed, underprivileged children and the elderly is something I am incredibly proud to do.
It's vital that we listen to and help our communities wherever we can and we will do as much as we can to help the Leeds United Foundation. There are some really exciting plans for the charity and it's a real pleasure to help them out.
Nick Hodgson, the drummer of the Kaiser Chiefs, has just announced on twitter that he has left the band.
I can confirm I have left Kaiser Chiefs after 15 spectacular years. I'm moving on. I wish the rest of the band the very best!
