A South Yorkshire MP who lost his wife to cancer will run the London Marathon next year to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
It will be the third time Dan Jarvis has taken on the 26.2 mile challenge.
The Labour MP for Barnsley Central said he wanted to raise "as much money as possible" as well as raising awareness about early diagnosis of cancer.
He added: “We must be bold in our attempts to combat the disease and if I can play my small part next April then I will be proud to do so”.
The husband and daughter of the fundraiser Jane Tomlinson can put their feet up tonight after a gruelling eight day challenge.
Mike, his daughter Rebecca and a team of supporters have just run the Paris Marathon and cycled 500 miles through three countries - all to mark 10 years since the Jane Tomlinson Appeal was started - and yesterday they topped it all off by running the London Marathon.
Two runners from Beverley are having a well deserved rest after taking part in the London Marathon yesterday. 36 year old Lucas Meagor, and Julie Donald took part in the gruelling event to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Lucas supported the Trust during 2011 raising £10,000 in the process having just past the £30,000 mark since he began marathon running in 2001.
Despite suffering flu-like symptoms this morning, Mike Tomlinson - the husband of the late Jane Tomlinson - has completed the London Marathon in around four hours 47 minutes.
