Rider thrown from motorbike in crash

A motorcyclist has been left with serious injuries after a crash with a car.

At around 5.10pm on Wednesday a blue Citroen C2, driven by a 30-year-old woman from Anston, Sheffield, was waiting at the junction of Kieran Close, next to Murphy’s Depot, to turn right onto Rotherham Road, Dinnington.

It is believed that a blue Yamaha motorcycle, ridden by an 18-year-old man from Retford, was travelling along Rotherham Road towards Outgang Lane, behind a red van.

It is understood that the red van indicated to turn left onto Kieran Close, at which point the Citroen pulled out onto Rotherham Road.

The Yamaha reportedly began to overtake the van, when it came into collision with the Citroen.

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle, sustaining two broken ankles, and was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital. The driver of the Citroen was not injured.
