Worksop's Westwood beaten in Ryder Cup fourballs

Worksop golfer Lee Westwood has lost his fourballs match alongside Jamie Donaldson in the Ryder Cup.

The pair were beaten 4&3 by USA pair Hunter Mahan and Jim Furyk.

Team Europe currently lead 6½ to 5½ over USA at Gleneagles ahead of this afternoon's foursomes session, where Westwood and Donaldson will pair up again this Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar.

Ryder Cup tees off with Westwood hoping to impress

The Ryder Cup will take place at Gleneagles over the weekend with Europe looking to retain the trophy they won at Medina two years ago.

And for Europe's most decorated player, Worksop's Lee Westwood, it will be a ninth appearance.
