Troops are 'trained and prepared' for Afghan tour

Soldiers based at Catterick who are heading out to Afghanistan have said they are "trained and prepared" for the threats they face, including so called green-on-blue attacks.

Officers and men from 4 Regiment Royal Artillery (4 Regt RA) - known as the North East Gunners, after their recruitment area - were speaking as they boarded buses for the first part of their deployment.

There were emotional scenes at Alanbrooke Barracks, Topcliffe, North Yorkshire, as the soldiers said goodbye to their families.
