Yorkshire nominee speaks after missing out on Local Hero Award

Yorkshire pensioner John Burkhill missed out on the Local Hero Award at the Pride of Britain awards last night.

The 73-year-old is best known for his peculiar style of fundraising for charity Mcmillan Cancer Support. He is often seen with a green wig and pushing a pram for people to donate into around Sheffield streets. He has also ran over 800 races in the UK to raise money.

So far he has raised a grand total of £160,000. His love for charity work is in memory of his late wife who died from the disease and his daughter who passed away during a routine operation.
