Halifax Minster is to host a service today at 4pm to mark the closing of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee year. It has been organised **by Calderdale Council, alongside Halifax Minster and the Community Foundation for Calderdale.
The Diamond Jubilee marked 60 years since The Queen came to the throne and has been celebrated by various events over the last twelve months.
The closing ceremony will be conducted by The Rev Cannon Hilary Barber and see music led by the Halifax Choral Society, the West Yorkshire Police Band and the Minster choir. There will be performances from Sikh drummers, Diamond Gymnastics, and Ryburn High School Dance Academy.
Barry Rutter of Northern Broadsides Theatre company will give a reading by Shakespeare. There will also be special words from The Bishop of Pontefract, The Right Rev Tony Robinson and the Lord-Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe.
