Pupils at Handsworth Grange Community Sports College in Sheffield are preparing to distribute produce to a food bank half a mile away in the village.
Every half term the college plans to collect food and give it to the food bank. Headteacher Anne Quaile set up the scheme after a 15-year-old pupil came to her and said she hadn't eaten for a whole weekend.
She said it's shocking that people have to use food banks in one of the richest countries in the world.
At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
