The bodies of Leszek Dantes and his wife Malgorzata Dantes, both aged 54, were discovered after officers were called to a house in Hardwick Road East at about 7am on Monday 21 April.
A post-mortem examination revealed they died of stab wounds.
Their son, Kamil Dantes, is charged with two counts of murder and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court today.
At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
