'Cycling is the future of transport' says Leeds MP

Hundreds of cyclists around the region have staged a demonstration calling for better provisions for riders. Leeds council say they are investing 29 million pounds on a super cycleway between Leeds and Bradford and also have plans for cycle routes in the city's parks.

But the Space for Cycling support ride - also held in York and Sheffield - wants council leaders and policy makers to give more consideration to cyclists on local roads.

Lizzie Reather from Leeds Cycling Campaign and Leeds North East MP Fabian Hamilton - himself a keen cyclist - have been talking to Calendar about the protest.
