The 31-year-old forward joined the Giants from the NRL in 2008 and made his 146th Super League appearance in Friday night's 18-16 playoff defeat to Catalan Dragons.

Huddersfield head coach Paul Anderson paid tribute to Faiumu after the game.

He said: "Fuey is a credit to himself and his family. He has been a great professional at this club.

"He has spent this year struggling with injuries but he made the choice to play on as we needed him. He is something special."
