Fatal crash in Leeds

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Aberford, Leeds, on Saturday afternoon (25 October).

At around 4.40pm, a blue Toyota Prius had been travelling along the B1217 Collier Lane in the direction of Lotherton Hall when it left the carriageway and collided with the M1 bridge support wall.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, believed to be a 61-year-old man who lived locally, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Carole Greaves of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who saw any part of this incident or the manner of driving of the Prius immediately prior to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101."
