Top children's author reveals battle with depression

One of the country's best-selling children's authors has spoken for the first time about his battle with mental illness and how he attempted to take his own life.

GP Taylor, whose books are set in and around Scarborough and the East Coast has enjoyed international success and even had his work turned into a Hollywood film.

But now he has revealed his battle with depression - as he aims to highlight the threat to mental health support from Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind near his home. Victoria Whittam has been to meet him:
