Assault in Leeds city centre

West Yorkshire Police has renewed it's appeal for witnesses after a man was left with serious injuries following an assault in Leeds city centre on Saturday (15 August).

At around 9pm, paramedics were called to Call Lane where a 43-year-old man was outside a bar with serious head injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary and remains in a serious condition today.

As a result of initial enquiries, a 31 year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has now been bailed pending further enquiries.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Richard Holmes, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who has seen the circumstances of how this man has come to be injured. Any witnesses are urged to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via 101. Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.”
