Police appeal after fatal collision in Holmfirth

An investigation is underway after a 17-year-old man died and three others were seriously injured in a collision near Holmfirth in West Yorkshire.

It happened when four cars were in a collision on the A635 Greenfield Road around 4.44pm yesterday.

A 17-year-old passenger in one of the cars died as a result of the crash. A 56-year-old man was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary suffering serious injuries, along with a 17-year-old female driver and a 36-year-old man.

The A635 was closed for much of the evening while recovery and investigation work was carried out.

Enquires are ongoing into what has clearly been a very serious multi vehicle collision which has resulted in the death of a 17-year-old male.

We would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or the manner of driving of any of the vehicles in the moments before this collision.

An 18-year-old female driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
