Lincolnshire Police defends high use of tasers

Lincolnshire Police has defended its high use of tasers following information that has been made public in an HMIC report today.

The force used tasers 332 times in 2014, which is more than double what has been been recorded in similar forces.

Deputy Chief Constable Heather Roach says it is due to the rural nature of the area they cover.

Overall Lincolnshire police scored a 'good' rating in the report.

They have been asked to make improvements when recording 'taser use' and understanding when 'stop and searches' should take place.
