Search for owner of war medals - ahead of Remembrance Day

Search for owner of medals Credit: Nottinghamshire police

Police in Newark are trying to reunite a set of war medals with their rightful owner ahead of Remembrance Day.

They were found near to the Odeon Cinema at around 11pm on June 5th - the day of the Mayor's Parade. Since then efforts to trace them have been unsuccessful. The Medals Office believe they could be replicas as there are no serial numbers on them.

These medals are very distinctive and have clearly been owned by someone who looked after them. We just hope that they may be about to go into their cupboard ahead of Remembrance and realise that they're missing and get in touch.

Anyone who may know who the medals might belong to is asked to contact Newark Police Station on 101.
