The first Angry Birds Activity Park in the UK is to open today at Sundown Adventureland in Retford.

The company behind the popular game say the idea behind the parks is to 'get people who would normally be sat at home in front of a screen out of the house and engaging in physical activity.'

Angry Birds characters are instantly recognisable and we can't wait to see them brought to life in the themed play area.

Angry Birds Activity Park will include animal spring riders, swings, sandpits and a range of climbing towers with slides. There will also be an Angry Birds arcade game that can be played outdoors in the park.

Initially started as a phone app in December 2009 by a Finnish game developer, 12 million copies of the game have been purchased.

Rovio say there are 800 million monthly users, of what they call the most popular paid app ever. Last year the company announced £60.8m in revenue.
