The Midlands Paralympian who took up athletics less than a year before the London Paralympic Games is now inspiring others with his talent.

Sam Ruddock, an athlete who was spotted during his time studying at Loughborough University, has been telling his story to school children at the Kip McGrath Education Centre today, while also encouraging them to take part in a national competition.

Sam was born in Warwickshire with cerebral palsy and wanted to be a teacher before turning to sport.

With 90 per cent of sports clubs in the region reporting no increase in disabled participants, Sam hopes to inspire children into competitive sports.
