Birmingham City Council has released detailed maps of the areas in the city which will be the first to have 20mph limits under draft plans.
Under the proposals, the council says the vast majority of roads will eventually be given 20mph speed limits - including residential roads and those near local shopping centres.
The council says it will continue to consult with local communities and hopes work in the pilot areas will be completed by March 2015.
Eleven maps of where the 20mph areas will be have been published:
An official consultation period into the 20mph areas is expected to be opened in the near future.
