The Normandy Landings were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy which took place on 6 June 1944.

It was the largest seaborne invasion in history and began the offensive of German-occupied Western Europe, which led to an Allied victory in the Second World War.

To mark the anniversary, Staffordshire will hold a service that will include a wreath laying, and a silence, at the Normandy Veterans Memorial.

Crowds will also be treated to a performance by The Bolesterstone Male Voice Choir outside the visitor centre after the service.
