Man charged with murder of Birmingham father

A man in his 30s has been charged with the murder of a father from Harborne in Birmingham.

Baljit Singh was last seen on 23 December when he left his home to collect a birthday cake for his son. His body was discovered in the basement of a house on Beeches Road, Rowley Regis on New Year's Day.

Stuart Millership was arrested by detectives on New Year's Eve in Kingswinford. The 32-year-old, of no fixed abode, will appear before Wolverhampton magistrates charged with Mr Singh's murder today.

A post mortem discovered that the 50-year-old from Meadow Road in Harborne died as a result of head injuries and a knife wound to the neck.

A 27-year-old woman arrested at the same time as Millership has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A 28-year-old man and 23-year-old woman from Kingswinford also remain on police bail.
