A Birmingham petrol station owner is about to run dry after being deluged by motorists after offering unleaded for under one pound.
Velautham Sarveswaran said he had just 500 litres of petrol left at 2.15pm today, as half of the eight pumps at the Harvest Energy filling station in Kings Heath had run out.
The Alcester Road garage still has diesel - at 109.7p a litre - but the bargain price of 99.7p for unleaded means petrol is running low as motorists lined up to fill their tanks.
The station had queues spilling out onto the busy A435 as drivers scrambled to get the best price in the UK.
Mr Sarveswaran, 52, who also runs petrol stations in Walsall and Redditch, said he was hoping to receive an emergency delivery to get the pumps back in action.
“The next delivery would have been tomorrow morning but hopefully we will get another delivery around 4pm.
