Nottinghamshire Police is being investigated by the police watchdog into how it handled the case of missing teenager Amber Peat.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission says it's looking into how officers responded to reports of public sightings.
We are conducting an independent investigation into Nottinghamshire Police's response to the missing person's report concerning Amber Peat.
The 13-year-old was found hanged less than a mile away from her home in Mansfield on June 2nd.
The force says it referred itself to the IPCC as part of standard procedure. It said:
“We made a voluntary referral to the IPCC and will fully support their investigation. “Referrals like this are part of standard procedure for cases with such high public interest, we do this to ensure transparency.”
