Confirmation Toton will be put forward as East Midlands HS2 station

The Chairman of the HS2 project which will one day see high speed trains running through the East Midlands has confirmed the original location of Toton will be the place a station for the region will be built.

In October last year it was revealed a different location near Breaston in Derbyshire was being looked at because of better potential transport links to existing railway lines between Nottingham & Derby.

However visiting Nottingham today, the Chairman of HS2 Ltd Sir David Higgins confirmed that the Breaston location will no longer be considered.

The Toton proposal will be put to Ministers who will then make the final route decision
