Uttoxeter swimmer Adam Peaty breaks 50m breast stroke world record

Uttoxeter swimmer Adam Peaty has set a new world record in the men's fifty metre breast stroke whilst competing in the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia.

Peaty was competing in the semifinals of the event when he won with the record breaking time of 26.42 seconds. His efforts saw him shave 0.2 seconds off the previous fastest time.

Swimming stars including Rebecca Adlington have been quick to congratulate the twenty year old on his success.

Peaty will race in the final of the 50m event tomorrow.
