Photo released of two-year-old who died after being hit by a car

The first image has been released of the two-year-old who died in a road accident in Birmingham.

Muhhamad Zakariyya, was killed when he was hit by a blue Nissan Almera in Nelson Road, Aston, just before 7pm on Tuesday.

Despite medics attempting to save him at the roadside, he suffered a cardiac arrest and died later in hospital.

The crash happened near Villa Park, as thousands of fans arrived for Tuesday’s Aston Villa v Notts County match.

Yousef Hussain, spokesman for the Masjid Faizul Islam mosque, said he was supporting the family.

The road remained closed while emergency services attended the scene and re-opened two hours later.

The driver of the Nissan is helping collision investigators with their enquiries.
