Driver flees after burning car smashes through shop front in Birmingham's 'Balti Triangle'

The search is on for a driver involved in a late night smash after a car ploughed through a shop front and burst into flames in Birmingham's 'Balti Triangle'.

The Audi car crashed into the shop on the junction of Ladypool Road and Oldfield Road in the Balsall Heath area of the city at around 3:10am this morning.

Paramedics are now appealing for the driver and any occupants in the car at the time to come forward to seek medical attention.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

“Given where the car ended up and the level of damage, we have serious concerns for whoever was inside it when it crashed. There was no-one at the scene. “Our concern is that they could have head, neck or back injuries and could have suffered burns. All of these injuries could lead to life changing conditions. We would urge them to seek medical help as soon as possible.”
