Police have closed down a suspected brothel in Edgbaston after local residents raised their concerns about the property.

Officers visited ‘Studio 189’ on the Hagley Road just before 11pm on Thursday 8 October and arrested a woman on suspicion of managing a premises for the purpose of prostitution.

Officers then obtained a closure notice, in place for the next three months, which makes it illegal for anyone to enter the property without permission from the police or Birmingham Magistrates Court.

Following the visit, officers obtained a closure notice from Birmingham Magistrates Court which will be in place for the next three months. The notice means it is illegal for anyone to enter the premises without the permission of West Midlands Police or Birmingham Magistrates Court.

A 38-year-old woman from Bartley Green is on police bail until next month when she will return to a police station for further questioning.
