Dozens prepare to sleep rough for The Big Sleep Out

Dozens of people will sleep rough in Nottingham tonight to raise awareness about homelessness.

The Big Sleep Out is an annual event organised by charity Framework, and this year it’s being themed around Sherwood Forest.

It’s taking place in Sneinton market from 7:45pm to 7am, and this afternoon a version of the Major Oak will start being built to form the centre piece of the event.

Cleggs solicitors are one firm in the city taking part.

Emma Tegerdine, associate at Cleggs Solicitors, said:

"On 21 November, we will be wrapping up and putting ourselves in the shoes of those who may not have a roof above their heads each night by spending a night on the streets. "Framework is a fantastic charity which works to prevent homelessness, support vulnerable people and help people to live independent lives. "Recently, the charity has said it has experienced a substantial increase in the numbers of people asking for their help as a result of recent changes to the welfare system - so we were keen to help raise money in any way we can."
