A headteacher at a school in Hereford has found a way to tackle bullying - through song. Pupils at St Paul's Primary gave the Proclaimers' classic "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" their own unique take - called 500 Smiles!

The children were helped by a team of creative volunteers from the Royal National College for the Blind.

"We needed something memorable that would remind our children how important it is to treat everyone with kindness and to respect the fact that we are all wonderfully different. "Our great friends at the RNC have helped us before and we knew we could rely on them to help us create something special. They didn't let us down and their inspirational students helped us create our '500 Smiles'."

Andrew Teale, Headteacher

Lyrics - 500 Smiles

When I wake up, well I know I'm gonna be

The man with happy children right outside my door.

When I go out, yeah, I know I'm gonna say

We don't want bullying at St Paul's any more.

If I feel sad, well, I know I'm gonna find,

I'm gonna find some friends who'll help me that's for sure.

And our behaviour, hey, I know it's gonna be,

It's gonna be outstanding always - never poor!

But I would smile five hundred smiles,

And I would smile five hundred more

Just to be the man who smiled a thousand smiles

To see friends at my door.
