Amazon van full of Christmas gifts still missing after knifepoint robbery

Police are still searching for an Amazon delivery van stolen in a knifepoint robbery, which is thought to be full of Christmas presents.

The van is one of two taken in Birmingham and Sandwell on Friday afternoon.

Although a police swoop on a property in Quinton has netted one of the vans and more than 170 parcels, at least 150 packages are still missing.

West Midlands Police officers are working with the online retail giant to determine what was taken, and who ordered the stolen presents.

Five men aged between 21 and 50 were arrested earlier and have been released on police bail.

Police believe that one of the vans had just been unloaded but that the other, which is still missing, may still be full of presents.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen the vans in the area, or who has any information about the theft, to come forward.

This is a great example of how the public and the police have worked hand in hand to save a lot of disappointment this Christmas.

It just goes to show how if people trust their instincts and get in touch with us about concerns in their community, we can together effectively crack down on serious organised crime.

We’re keen to hear from anyone who can assist us with this investigation, which is still very much in its early stages

If you are worried one of these packages may be yours, please contact Amazon directly.
