Comedian Jason Manford has come out with praise for Stoke-on-Trent during his stay there as part of a tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Posting on his Facebook page he writes,
I think Stoke is being misrepresented! In my experience I've found the people friendly and generous, the love of pottery seems to be one of the most British things I've ever encountered and although I'm no expert in geography it looks to be in the perfect location with countryside in every direction!
He says he was "surprised" to learn that Stoke appears in a list of 'Top 10 Worst Places to live in England 2016' and asks people to let him know their favourite places and things to do.
He's been inundated with responses including:
Mow Cop, a village on the Staffordshire/Cheshire border
Trentham Gardens and Monkey Forest.
New Vic theatre.
Burslem town centre.
Drink Staffordshire brewed beer
Staffordshire Scotch eggs and oatcakes.
Local steam railways
