David Cameron's last day in office: Was this his most awkward gaffe?

David Cameron will formally tender his resignation to the Queen on Wednesday, with Theresa May taking over as prime minister.

Was this the outgoing PM's most awkward gaffe - when he blamed forgetting he supports Aston Villa on a 'brain fade'?

He made the gaffe during a speech in south London, but was corrected by journalists:

Asked to clarify his loyalties after his speech, which he read from an autocue, Mr Cameron replied:

"I had what Natalie Bennett described as a brain fade. I'm a Villa fan ... I must have been overcome by something ... this morning. But there we are, these things sometimes happen when you are on the stump."
