'I had 650 messages yesterday, I'm trying to get round to answering them all'

Speaking to ITV News Central this morning, after what Nick admitted was a night of celebrations, he revealed he'd had 650 messages of congratulations - and vowed to reply to them all.

Although he admitted it might take a while!

The 58-year-old took his first individual Gold last night in the Olympic showjumping. In doing so, he became the oldest Olympic champion in any equestrian sport.

His son Dan posted this message last night,

Today, Nick replied in kind, saying he's immensely proud of what his son's have achieved.

He's said of all his medals - this is the big one.

"It doesn't get any better than this, when you win Individual Gold it's the pinnacle of your career."
