Three men have been sentenced to more than 17 years for their roles in an incident where a woman and three children were kidnapped in Oswestry.

A woman and three children were kidnapped in Oswestry town centre on March 2016 despite best efforts of members of the public trying to stop them.

The victims were found safe and well a short time later by officers from West Mercia Police.

Mohammed Ansar Khan, 31, and from Whitehall Road, Tipton, West Midlands, pleaded guilty to kidnap at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to six years in prison.

Muserat Khan, 36, and from Greets Green Road, West Bromwich, West Midlands, pleaded guilty to kidnap at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison.

Ateek Khan, 28, and from Oak Road, West Bromwich, West Midlands, pleaded guilty to kidnap and was sentenced to five years and five months in prison.

This was a completely unjustified, terrifiying incident for them, I hope that the significant custodial sentences reinforce the partnership message that criminal activity will not be tolerated within Shropshire.
