Dancing grannies take over train station for Diwali celebrations

Birmingham New Street station came alive this weekend as dancing grannies took to the concourse on Saturday, October 29 to entertain commuters.

It was all part of celebrations to mark Diwali, the annual festival of light. Birmingham's street dancing grannies were joined by Indian drummers and performers in a Bhangra dance flashmob inside Grand Central.

And it wasn't just the grannies and professional dancers involved. Members of the community were also encouraged to take part, with workshops and online tutorials being carried out prior to the event.

Celebrations are being held across the region today to mark the end of the festival of light.
