A church in Derbyshire needs funds to fix the roof - and villagers are hoping to raise £100,000 through cake!
Local baker Lynn Nolan offered to make a model of a typical Derbyshire village, loosely based on Youlgrave, for the church to have on display to attract visitors and hopefully - funds.
People turned up with cake making ingredients and an anonymous donor provided many of those that were missing.
35 cakes were made by bakers across the village, which were cut, shaped, covered in marzipan and iced to make the sixteen buildings intended to recreate Youlgrave.
Every building has fairy lights, and detail including:
Different cuts of meat in the butcher’s shop window
Glasses on the tables inside the George Hotel
A Peak District bakery with homity pies, quiches, vegetables
Christmas dinner laid out at a nursing home
The Post Office with weighing scales and counter
It's on display in All Saint's Church from now until Christmas.
