Shocking moment man kicks cat 'breaking its jaw' captured on CCTV

CCTV footage has captured the shocking moment a man kicked a cat - sending it hurling into the air.

The cat, named Millie, is being treated for a suspected broken jaw following the attack which happened outside a block of flats in Sidney Street, Derby, on January 12.

Millie's owner Patrick McGeary contacted the RSPCA after watching the appalling CCTV footage.

He also uploaded the clip to social media, where it has been watched more than 800,000 times.

Writing on Facebook, Mr McGeary thanked people for their support and said Millie was "still a bit groggy but not in pain".

He added: "Millie's resting, has been eating and seems a bit more playful and seems more relaxed."

RSPCA Inspector Sarah Burrows said: "It is an unprovoked attack which has sadly left Millie with a suspected broken jaw.

"Inflicting such a horrific attack on a defenceless cat is sickening and it’s important we track down the people responsible."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.

If prosecuted, a person can face up to six months in prison and a fine of up to £20,000.
